Role overview

Following the growing consensus that school systems need to develop young people with certain core skills and competencies (also known as 21st Century skills or “Deep Learning” skills), British Council Indonesia Foundation and HSBC Indonesia addresses the issue through Introduction to Core Skills training for educators (teachers and school leaders) in Jakarta and Bandung as a part of “Pendidikan Global; Membangun Generasi Muda Cerdas dan Berkarakter”.

The training aims to introduce educators to below six core skills, why they are essential for students, and how to embed the skills into classroom activities: critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and communication, creativity and imagination, citizenship, student leadership and personal development, and digital literacy.

Main accountabilities

1. Trainer Validation

As part of the recruitment process, final ten shortlisted candidates will have to fully participate in a three-day validation event and complete all the required tasks and assessments. Four selected candidates will obtain validation from British Council’s UK organisation partner, Imagine Education, as Core Skills trainers and will be authorised to deliver Core Skills training sessions. Validation training will be held on 6 – 8 June 2017 in Jakarta. 

2. Course Content and Delivery

  • Validated trainers will deliver Introduction to Core Skills training for teachers and school leaders in Jakarta and/or Bandung using original materials and resources provided by British Council Indonesia Foundation.
  • Certain adjustment on the delivery might be necessary with prior consultation and approval from British Council Indonesia Foundation.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Trainers are required to collect baseline evaluation survey and end-of-course evaluation survey in every training session.
  • Trainers are required to submit report on each training session and at the end of the programme which covers challenges, solutions, and recommendations

  • Latest Curriculum Vitae which highlights considerable experience in delivering teacher training, facilitating workshop, and materials development.
